Burn Ban Update- September 15th 2023

Effective Date: September 15th, 3:40PM Burn Ban Update

Due to improving atmospheric conditions, on Friday September 15, the Dept. of Natural Resources rescinded its ban on recreational fires which are now allowed provided they are in a concrete, metal or stone fire pit or bar-b-que. This also includes charcoal cooking fires in bar-b-ques.

In accordance with its Burn Restriction Policy and to maintain consistency throughout the rest of the County, the Mason County Fire Marshal’s Office has lifted its ban on recreational fires for those lands in the County not under DNR jurisdiction effective immediately.

Please note residential burning (the burning of yard clippings, leaves, branches, etc.) and is still prohibited.

Your cooperation keeping Mason County fire safe is appreciated.
