At approximately 10 pm on Monady night, West Mason was dispatched to a brush fire started by fireworks off the High Steel Bridge in the Olympic National Forest. The fire was knocked down by large volumes of water supplied by tenders of nearby districts.
Even though the fire did not get out of control, the brush around the area is dry and this steep terrain is unreachable in most areas.
This is a reminder that The U.S. Forest Service prohibits fireworks in national forests and national grasslands, even during the Fourth of July holiday.
Be safe and have a great Fourth of July!
